In my second Semester, I programmed a game using a program called Adobe Flash. The game is called "Egypt's Dilemma." The goal of the game is to collect all the scrolls under the time limit, and you have to avoid the enemies that are walking on the platforms. The things that you will learn in this game is the festivals, events, and ceremonies that go in Ancient Egypt. You will learn this when you collect the scrolls in the game. Once you collect a scroll, a message will show, saying one of the events that go on in Egypt.

This assignment best shows how I have improved my coding skills. I think coding  was also a really fun part when creating the game. And I feel like I have improved a lot on my coding skills, compared to some of the games that I made when I was in Fifth Grade. I felt like I didn't understand much about code at first, but this year, I feel like I understand a lot more about code. It really shows the progress that I have had over the past year. I also feel like that I learned a lot more things on coding and game design than last year. And I also got to prove to myself that I was able to understand and follow code directions in order to get my assignment completed. In other words, I felt like this game has showed how much I have learned on coding and how my games have improved over the years.

Semester 2: Game Design

Semester 1: Engineering

For the first semester of Elective, I worked on engineering. We got to learn about what engineers do their job and the skills that they learn throughout their jobs. There are many engineers that build many types of things. Their job is to build things that make the world better. I felt a lot of pressure on myself when I was working on the project because I was really hoping for the product I was building to work. But I realized a lot of things when I was in Engineering. I learned that there will be trial and error when you are trying to build a product. One of the activities that I did when I was in Engineering was the egg drop challenge. We had to make a contraption (a picture of my contraption is on the right) that will store an egg, but if the contraption is dropped, it will still protect the egg and prevent it from cracking. That was one of the successful activities that I have done.

I feel like that the activity was the one that gave me most pressure, and it also gave me a much better learning experience on what engineers will experience on their job. There was a lot of trial and error in this activity and there were many points where I had to rethink my design and start over and make a new contraption out of the old design that I had. But in the end, I was very successful in the project and when we did the egg drop test, the contraption succesfully protected the egg. I was really surprised and very happy that the contraption was able to protect the egg. I wanted to display this because of all the trial and error that I had with this activity, and how in the end, it was worth it. I felt like that this is one of the successful activities that I had when I was in my first semester.
